    Dive Site

    Roach Reefs Dive Sites

Barracuda Sanctuary – swirling school of chevron barracuda is the highlight of this site. 10 – 15m diving depth it’s provide huge and healthy table corals, soft corals as well as another active cleaning station.

Bus stop – is a deep dive site with max depth of 30m. 5 units of 44 seater express bus were sunken to create another wreck site. Schools of jacks & harlequin sweetlips rest at the bow of the captain's cabin with many giant groupers lurking in the vicinity.

Viking – the mention of Viking … the thought of ship comes into mind, however this is only the local fishing boat which is of 12m in length. Fairly new wreck but have attracted schools of snappers, fusiliers as well as groupers as resident. Rock cods, barracuda of smaller size and group are regulars. Sitting at the bottom of 18m, this fishing boat also attracts others beauty of the depth such as the nudibranch, lionfish and stonefish.

    Mabul & Kapalai Dive Sites

Most of the diving in Mabul and Kapalai is very shallow with depths from 60 feet to as shallow as 10 feet. These places are "macro heaven on earth". On one given dive, divers may get to see as many as 25 or 30 remarkable photo subjects including squid, cuttlefish, anemone shrimp, gobies with blind cleaner shrimp, porcelain crabs, juvenile batfish, harlequin ghost pipefish, mushroom coral pipefish, mandarin fish, dragonets and many more.

    Sipadan Dive Sites

Most of the diving in Sipadan is combination of wall and drift diving. The walls are covered with hard corals, soft corals, gorgonians, sponges etc. You can see more turtles on one dive here than in a lifetime of diving anywhere else. Divers may also get to see huge resident school of barracudas, which make beautiful circling patterns on top of the reef, in 10 or 15 feet of water at the South Point.

    Visibility

    Ranges from 20 - 35 metres

    Dive Sites Condition

Mabul Island first became popular due to its close proximity to Sipadan Island. However in the last few years, it has gained its own recognition as one of the best “muck diving” sites in the world. Mabul Island is a small oval shaped island surrounded by sandy beaches and perched on the northwest corner of a larger 200 hectare reef. The reef is on the edge of the continental shelf and the seabed surrounding the reef slopes out to between 25 to 30m deep.

Sipadan Island is a small rainforest covered tropical island rising from a depth of more than 600 meters from the bottom of the Celebes Sea. It is the only oceanic island in the region. The island is the top of a long-lost lava chimney from a prehistoric volcano. The very famous late French underwater explorer and filmmaker, Jacques-Yves Cousteau once remarked about Sipadan Island “I have seen other places like Sipadan… 45 years ago. Now we have found again an untouched piece of art.” Although that was many years ago, it is still true today. The island is arguably the top dive destination in the world.

    Accessibility

Dive sites are very near the resort, where you will return to spend your surface interval. Maximum depth here is between 25m - 35m.

    Marine Life

Dawn dive can be very exhilarating as you can almost assure of seeing the Bumphead parrotfish in huge numbers, minimum sighting is 30’s (reach to 100’s). Swimming blue spotted stingray, ornate ghost pipefish, and our frequent visitor the lone Eagle Ray! From micro to macro, Roach Reefs offer the best of two worlds to divers who have varied interest in pelagic & muck diving.

Sipadan is all drift diving, divers drop in and cruise with the current along the walls. This combination of deep walls and ocean currents provides the ideal environment for pelagic such as sharks and large schools of jacks and barracuda.

    Dive Calendar

Moderate to swift currents. Temperature range from 27 - 29 degrees Celsius & the diving is year round here.
