| The Philippines is to scuba divers what Switzerland is to skiers, Hawaii to surfers and Nepal to mountaineers: is a place you must visit at least once, to get the real heart of the sport. The country is a veritable smorgasboard of world-class dive sites set in a lush tropical environment with all the trappings you could wish for. Statistics from the Philippine Department of Tourism indicate that divers visiting the Philippines return for an average of 10 trips each which speaks volume about the quality of the dive sites and the professionalism of the operators. | |
| Visibility | Ranges from 25 - 35metres. | | Dive Sites Condition | The waters of the Verde Island Passage around Puerto Galera provide rich reward for technical divers. The 25 or so regular spots visited by recreational divers have been joined in the last few years by at least the same number of dive sites in deeper waters, the vast majority of them within fifteen minutes boat ride of the beach. The diving is predominantly drift diving, although some sites have several hours window without current. Most places are reefs, small wrecks and stepped deep walls ranging from 45m to around 85-90m ( 300ft.). A great number of these deeper reefs give relatively easy access to shallow water for decompression. On others, drifting open water decompression is normal. The resort diving area is swept by tidal currents keeping water clear and clean, and have enjoyed a protected status from fishing for many years. The less visited deeper areas are consequently pristine, providing tremendous topography and fascinating marine life. | | Accessibility | All dive sites are within 15 minutes by boat from the resort. Groups are kept small to give a better & more personalised service. | | Marine Life | | The foremost asset of Oriental Mindoro, Puerto Galera is blessed with one of the world’s most beautiful natural harbors. Known as the Pearl of Mindoro, it is world-famous for splendid beaches, coral reefs, and exquisite dive sites for new and experienced divers alike. There are shallow coral gardens, interesting rock formations, and colorful species to watch, like crabs, shrimps, sea anemones, moray, and trumpet fishes. | | Dive Calendar | Moderate currents. Temperature range from 22 - 30 degrees Celsius & diving is year round. |
